Estates Technician and Activity Instructor

We are currently looking for a multi-skilled individual to join our team as an Estates Technician and Activity Instructor. Working in our stunning moorland surroundings, you will be supporting the management of our large estate and helping to deliver outdoor activity sessions to groups of all ages and abilities in a range of adventurous activities.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assisting in woodland management, groundskeeping and gardening
  • Ensuring the production and delivery of exciting and inspiring outdoor activity sessions
  • Reporting to and supporting the Grounds Manager and Outdoor Education Manager
  • Working within a dedicated team in a Christian environment
  • Actively participating in the Christian ministry of the Centre
  • Supporting other areas of the Centre where appropriate

Person Specification

Ideal candidates will:

  • Be multi-skilled with experience in estates management (not essential as full training can be provided)
  • Ideally have a chainsaw qualification and experience in using grounds machinery
  • Have previous experience working in a similar role (desirable)
  • Have outdoor instructing experience and/or qualifications (desirable)
  • Have excellent communication skills and be a team player
  • Be able to demonstrate good initiative
  • Have their own transport due to the rural location
  • Be in sympathy with the Christian ethos of the centre

Further details:

  • Full-time 1 year fixed term position Monday to Friday (some weekend working may be required)
  • Role is subject to an enhanced DBS check and references
  • As a Christian charity it is an occupational requirement that the applicant is a committed Christian and will be willing to participate in the Christian outreach of the Centre
  • The role is based at Heatree Activity Centre, Manaton, Devon, TQ13 9XE
  • Salary: £21,000 per annum
