The Quantick Bursary Fund

We want as many young people as possible to benefit from an enriching experience in the outdoors and provide opportunities where they can learn more about the Christian faith; whether they take part in a Christian youth group or summer camp, or through a school residential.

Based around our charitable aims, the purpose of the Quantick Bursary fund is to enable disadvantaged children and young people (under 18s) to come to Heatree, who might otherwise not get the opportunity to do so.

The bursary is in memory of Elizabeth Quantick (1911-1995) who officially started the Heathercombe Brake Trust charity in 1956.

Those who can apply for funding are as follows:

Christian Youth Groups or Youth Camps:

Group leaders apply for funding on behalf of the group as a whole; a discount of 30% will be applied to the total group charge*. The following criteria must be met to be eligible for funding:

  • The programme will have a clear Gospel focus.
  • There will be input from Heatree staff throughout your visit through booked activity sessions.
  • The adults/leaders will be coming to serve and teach the young people rather than be taught themselves.

SEND School Pupils:

School pupils will need to have an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) or an IHCP (Individual, Health and Care Plan) in place to be eligible for funding. School staff will need to complete a simple application form on the young person’s behalf and provide evidence of their EHCP or IHCP. A discount of 30% will be applied to the cost of their trip.*

Decisions

All applications will be reviewed by the Centre Manager and an outcome decision will be made within 14 working days from the receipt of your application (provided that all the information we require has been received). All outcome decisions are final and there is no appeals process.

There is no deadline to apply, applications can be made all year round. The fund is administered by the Heatree admin team. If you have any questions, please contact us on 01647 221307 or email admin@heatree.org

* This discount covers the cost of accommodation, catering (if applicable), activities and transport whilst on the residential visit; it does not cover travel to and from the Centre or other costs added by your organisation.

Additional Information

Please remember that we can only accept applications from groups that have submitted a booking form.

If the organisation/school subsequently cancels their booking, any payments not covered by the bursary would still be payable subject to Heatree’s usual cancellation charges.

The outcome of all applications will be made by email or letter and the amount awarded will be deducted from the final invoice.

The fund is sustained through two avenues, one of which is through generous giving by individual donations and grants. As an organisation who believes strongly in the benefits of the bursary for young people, we have also allocated part of our earned income to supplement the donations. We are continually fundraising for this fund so if you would like to make a donation, please visit: www.stewardship.org.uk/pages/quantickbursary

Feedback

As part of the process of receiving the fund, we will ask all recipients to complete a feedback questionnaire so we can see the impact this fund is having on children and young people. This will also help strengthen the future and potential of the fund in order to help more individuals. You can access the form here: Quantick Bursary Feedback Questionnaire
