Spend a whole day travelling back in time to experience what life was like from the nomadic life of the Stone Age, through to the settled farmers of the Bronze Age. Get dressed up and try some of the various tasks typically carried out during these times. From the Stone Age you can try whittling to make a willow spear and practise spear-throwing, paint using natural pigments and learn how to build a shelter to protect yourself from the elements. The session ends by sharing your experiences and reflections around the glowing embers of the campfire. After lunch, travel forwards into the Bronze Age where you will spend time in our authentic Bronze Age Roundhouse and garden, cooking, working with willow and pottery-making.
A particular focus is on sustainable living and how early historic periods compare with modern life. An interactive timeline will help put both eras into context and links through to the Iron Age.
