Youth Groups

Imagine gathering your group around the campfire whilst you look back over a day of climbing, raft building and muddy adventure courses. You’ve seen your group overcome their fears to help each other; they’ve strengthened their self-belief and learnt to trust those around them. Still buzzing from the experience, they’ve bonded as a group and created lasting friendships and memories that will continue on the journey home.

Being immersed in the beautiful and wild Dartmoor countryside, it is a place of inspiration for exploring faith, sharing food and fellowship and for drawing close to God. However long your stay with us is, our team is ready to help you create an exciting and lasting experience.

If you haven’t been to Heatree before, we’d recommend leaders come on a preview visit where we can give you a tour and answer any questions. Please arrange this with our bookings team on bookings@heatree.org or call 01647 221307.

Our extensive grounds include lawns, fields, woodlands and moorland, providing plenty of space to explore and use as part of your programme. A short walk from the main building is our indoor sports barn which has a bouldering wall and various sports equipment such as unihoc and five-a-side football.

We have a replica Bronze age roundhouse (maximum capacity 30) where you can gather around the fire for a truly immersive experience into history, or alternatively use as an alternative meeting space for your group.

There is no charge to use the sports barn or roundhouse however, please book these spaces in advance to avoid double bookings.

We also offer:

  • Free wi-fi

Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and squash are always readily available in the dining room. There are fridges available for storing your own items, or for any medication requiring cool storage. Lockable refrigerated storage is also available on request.

A typical menu includes:

  • Lunch of deli-style filled sandwich baps with fresh fruit, crisps, chocolate bar and yogurt
  • A hot two course evening meal of a main and dessert

Heatree holds the Five Star Food Hygiene ‘Scores on the Doors’ rating.

Self-catering

All our kitchens are fully equipped for self-catered groups, with amenities such as heated serving units, commercial dishwashers (Heatree and Farmhouse only) and plenty of cold storage space. Guidelines on how to use our appliances are provided in our Guest Handbook and instructions manuals are readily available in the kitchens.

Please DO NOT bring food containing nuts, such as peanut butter, hazelnut spread or cakes containing nuts as we have many visitors with severe allergies.

Activity Sessions

As a Christian charity with a mission to help children and young people improve their mental health, alongside physical, emotional and spiritual development, our activity sessions are designed to help young minds explore and learn about the Christian faith whilst developing key life skills such as self-confidence, respect and trusting in others. Set amongst the natural beauty of Dartmoor National Park, our sessions provide opportunities for young minds to increase their wonder and understanding of our natural world.

For our full list of activities click here.

Any activity sessions need to be booked in advance and we recommend booking these as soon as possible to avoid disappointment as they are subject to staff availability. Please have the estimated number of participants to hand and include the approximate age range and any special requirements as this helps us to provide the best possible service.

If your group would like to make use of the sports barn during your stay or have a campfire (no additional charge) please let the Bookings Administrator know so this can be scheduled to accommodate any other groups on site.

Risk Assessments are carried out at the Centre and are inspected by AALA (Adventure Activities Licensing Authority), ensuring the Centre is carrying out routine assessments and is compliant with Health and Safety regulations.
