Church Groups

A church weekend away is a great opportunity to unite and strengthen a church family, where you can enjoy fellowship together in a different setting. Being immersed in the beautiful and wild surroundings of Heatree’s 80-hectare estate in the heart of Dartmoor provides an inspiring place for exploring faith and enjoying time together in God’s creation.

Whether you are a large city church, or a small congregation wanting a simple gathering in a peaceful location, we have plenty to offer. Our main building can accommodate groups of 150+ guests and we can provide catered or self-catered options.

If you have not been before, we are happy to arrange a preview visit with group leaders where we can give you a tour of the facilities and outside spaces. To book this please email or call 01647 221307.

Accommodation and Facilities

We provide private accommodation in our dormitory-style bedrooms with bunk beds. The majority of bedrooms have en-suite facilities and we can add folding beds in some of our more spacious rooms; find out more about ouraccommodation

Our extensive grounds include lawns, fields, woodlands and moorland, providing plenty of space to explore and use as part of your programme. A short walk from the main building is an indoor sports barn which includes a bouldering wall and is ideal for unihoc or five-a-side football and is especially useful during inclement weather.

We have a Bronze age roundhouse on-site which is suitable for up to 30 people. This can be used as a meeting space where you can gather around the fire for a truly immersive experience. Alternatively, it can be used as a quiet place for prayer or small group discussion. There is no charge to use the sports barn or roundhouse, however they must be booked in advance as there may be other groups wanting to use them.

We also offer:

  • Free on-site parking with turning space for coaches
  • Free wi-fi
  • Out-of-hours emergency assistance
  • Internet phones for leaders
  • Easy access to the moors and local areas of interest

If you have not been to Heatree before we recommend coming for a preview visit where we will be happy to show you round and answer any questions. Please speak to our bookings team to arrange this on 01647 221307 or email

Our kitchen team provides fresh and wholesome meals which are cooked onsite using quality produce. We do our best to accommodate special dietary requirements and can provide alternatives where possible. If you have food allergies or dietary needs that you would rather discuss beforehand, please call our kitchen team on 01647 221927.

Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and squash are always readily available in the dining room. There are fridges available for storing items, or for any medication requiring cool and lockable storage.

A typical catered menu includes:

  • Self-service breakfast of cereals, toast, jam, yogurt, tea, coffee and fruit juice.
  • Packed lunch of deli-style filled sandwich baps with a choice of fresh fruit, crisps, chocolate bar and yogurt.
  • A hot two course evening meal of a main and dessert.
  • Evening supper cake e.g. flapjacks, shortbread, Victoria sponge or chocolate cake.

Heatree holds the Five Star Food Hygiene ‘Scores on the Doors’ rating.

All of our kitchens are fully equipped for self-catered groups, with excellent amenities including heated serving units, dishwashers and plenty of cold storage space. Guidelines on how to use our appliances are given in our Guest Handbook and your welcome host will also go through this when you arrive.

Please DO NOT bring food containing nuts, such as peanut butter, hazelnut spread or cakes containing nuts as we have many visitors with severe allergies.

Activity Sessions

As a Christian charity with a mission to help children and young people improve their mental health, alongside physical, emotional and spiritual development, our activity sessions are designed to help young minds explore and learn about the Christian faith whilst developing key life skills such as self-confidence, respect and trusting in others. Set amongst the natural beauty of Dartmoor National Park, our sessions provide opportunities for young minds to increase their wonder and understanding of our natural world.

For our full list of activities click here.

Any activity sessions need to be booked in advance and we recommend booking these as soon as possible to avoid disappointment as they are subject to staff availability. Please have the estimated number of participants to hand and include the approximate age range and any special requirements as this helps us to provide the best possible service.

If your group would like to make use of the sports barn during your stay or have a campfire (no additional charge) please let the Bookings Administrator know so this can be scheduled to accommodate any other groups on site.

Risk Assessments are carried out at the Centre and are inspected by AALA (Adventure Activities Licensing Authority), ensuring the Centre is carrying out routine assessments and is compliant with Health and Safety regulations.
